The Alchemy Theatre is set to present Grand Hotel, The Musical at The Whisenhunt at ZACH Theatre from May 30 to June 15, 2025. Directed by Michael Cooper, Artistic Director of The Alchemy Theatre, this performance brings to life the iconic story based on Vicki Baum’s novel, with a book by Luther Davis and music and lyrics by Robert Wright & George Forrest, alongside additional music and lyrics by Maury Yeston.
Set in the luxurious yet tragically flawed Grand Hotel in 1928 Berlin, Grand Hotel, The Musical weaves a story filled with contrasting elements of rhythm, dance, comedy, heartache, and glitz. The musical features a diverse cast and a lush, powerful score, offering a rich portrayal of life within the hotel’s walls.
Founded in 2017, The Alchemy Theatre aims to produce honest and meaningful theater for the Austin community. With a focus on telling impactful stories, the theatre strives to create a space where both artists and audiences can celebrate the shared human experience.
