Halifax’s historic Piece Hall is on track to shatter its box office records this summer. The 2025 concert series, presented by TK Maxx, has already sold more than 170,000 tickets across 36 shows, marking the fourth consecutive year of record-breaking success.
The series kicked off with indie legends James, who delivered two sold-out performances at the iconic open-air venue. To mark James’ impressive feat of selling 24,000 tickets over four shows in 2023 and 2025, co-promoters Cuffe and Taylor, along with The Piece Hall Trust, presented the band and their management with commemorative prints backstage.
James’ frontman Tim Booth praised the venue, saying, “The Piece Hall is a stunning venue – a Venetian piazza in the centre of West Yorkshire. Our shows here have been magical experiences – they even supplied real thunder and lightning at our show in 2023! Thank you, Halifax, for another great weekend. Looking forward to the next time…”
Following James, The Piece Hall’s summer lineup features some of music’s biggest names, including Gary Barlow, Deftones, Simple Minds, Paul Heaton, Leon Bridges, Anastacia, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Nile Rodgers and CHIC.
Nicky Chance-Thompson MBE DL, CEO of The Piece Hall Trust, expressed enthusiasm for the season, saying: “What a way to start another epic summer of music in our stunning courtyard in the heart of Calderdale. We have legends from rock, pop, indie, dance, disco, reggae, and soul on the lineup. James, who have sold out The Piece Hall four times in two years, were the perfect openers.”
She added, “Our summer season not only enhances the cultural life of the region but also boosts the local hospitality economy. This venue delivers a magical experience for both artists and audiences. I’m excited to welcome back old friends and introduce new faces to the wonder of The Piece Hall.”
Peter Taylor of Cuffe and Taylor, co-promoter since 2022, said: “What a venue and what a band to open the 2025 summer series. James are one of British music’s true greats, and seeing the venue packed again was incredible. We expect many more sold-out shows this summer.”
Taylor added, “This series is set to break records not only for the number of shows but also ticket sales. The continued growth reflects the venue’s rising reputation in the UK and worldwide.”
For the second consecutive summer, TK Maxx partners with The Piece Hall and Cuffe and Taylor as presenting sponsor, highlighting TK Maxx’s ongoing commitment to supporting the arts and local communities.
