NEW ORLEANS — Georgia Southern University’s women’s golf team has secured a place in the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship for the first time in school history, following a standout performance at the NCAA Lexington Regional.
The Eagles tied for second place at Keene Trace Golf Club with a score of 854 (-10) across three rounds. The performance marks the second-lowest 54-hole team total of the season and the second-best in program history. Georgia Southern becomes the first Sun Belt Conference program since 2009 to advance to the national championship.
The team finished behind third-ranked Florida State (-15) and tied with No. 28 Kansas State (-10). Rounding out the top five qualifiers were No. 9 USC (-7) and No. 22 Vanderbilt (+2). These teams will compete at the NCAA Championships, set for May 16–21 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Sophomore Louise Reau and freshman Mary Miller led the way for Georgia Southern. Reau shot four-under par to tie for fifth place individually, while Miller recorded a collegiate-best three-under to claim seventh place.
Also contributing to the team score were Drive Tunwannrux (+1), Kelsey Chen (+7), and Loralie Cowart (+10).
In other Sun Belt news, conference champion Southern Miss finished 12th at the Norman Regional with a team total of 43-over par, ending its postseason run. Sun Belt Individual Champion Momoka Ando led Southern Miss with a four-over par score, tying for 26th.
Elsewhere, ULM’s individual qualifier Daniela Campillo placed 37th at the Gold Canyon Regional (+11), while Texas State’s Yvonne Chamness tied for 24th in the Lubbock Regional with a total score of seven-over par (75-78-70).
