MIAMI GARDENS, Florida – FIFA has significantly reduced ticket prices for Inter Miami’s opening match in the FIFA Club World Cup, hoping to boost sluggish sales ahead of the June 14 kickoff at Hard Rock Stadium.
According to a report by The Athletic on Wednesday, tens of thousands of tickets remain unsold for the 8 p.m. ET game between Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami and Egyptian club Al Ahly. The stadium has a seating capacity of 65,326.
FIFA pushed back against claims that fewer than 20,000 tickets had been sold. In a statement, the organization said the number was “much higher,” though it did not disclose the exact figure.
“We are introducing many new, successful clubs from around the world through this tournament across 11 U.S. cities,” FIFA said. “Overall, we expect strong attendance throughout this historic first edition, which we believe will grow with each tournament.”
As of Tuesday night, tickets for the Miami match had dropped to $55 on Ticketmaster — a steep fall from earlier prices. After the tournament draw in December, the lowest ticket price was $349, which later dropped to $230, The Athletic reported.
The 2025 Club World Cup, expanded to feature 32 teams, will run through July 13. In addition to Inter Miami, Major League Soccer will be represented by the Seattle Sounders and Los Angeles FC. European giants such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Inter Milan are also competing.
