Oregon State Secures College World Series Spot with Commanding Win Over Florida State

by Celina

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Oregon State baseball is headed back to Omaha. The No. 8 Beavers clinched a spot in the College World Series after defeating Florida State in a high-scoring Game 3 of the Corvallis Super Regional, overcoming a setback in Game 2 with a dominant offensive display on Sunday night.

Oregon State exploded early, scoring seven runs in the first inning and adding six more in the third. The Beavers rode that momentum to a 14–10 victory, securing their place among the final eight teams in the nation.

“When you get punched in the first inning and come back and respond like that, it takes the pressure off everybody,” said Oregon State head coach Mitch Canham. “You know the guys have your back. If something bad happens, they’re going to respond. But you have to treat every at-bat like these guys did today—especially at this stage.”

The Beavers’ offensive power was on full display, with five players going deep. Home runs came from Canon Reeder, Carson McEntire, Trent Caraway, Gavin Turley, and Tyce Peterson, fueling Oregon State’s 14-run outburst. The response followed a quiet offensive effort in Saturday’s Game 2 loss.

In contrast to Sunday’s slugfest, Saturday’s game was a pitchers’ duel. Sophomore Ethan Kleinschmit delivered a strong outing for the Beavers, allowing just two runs on two hits across six innings. He held his own against Florida State ace Jamie Arnold, one of college baseball’s top arms.

With the win, Oregon State now turns its attention to Omaha and the College World Series. The team enters the final stage of the tournament with a potent lineup and a promising young pitching staff—key ingredients for a potential national championship run.

“I trust these guys to go out there and put their heart and soul into it,” said Canham. “Omaha is in the Beaver blood, man.”

Oregon State will now prepare for its next challenge on college baseball’s biggest stage, aiming to add another title to its storied legacy.
