England vs India Test Series Tickets Nearly Sold Out Despite Absence of Kohli and Rohit

by Celina

The upcoming England-India Test series is drawing large crowds, even in the absence of Indian cricket icons Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. With both veterans recently retiring from the Test format, the reins have now passed to 25-year-old Shubman Gill, who is set to lead India in red-ball cricket for the first time. The five-match series begins on June 20 at Headingley in Leeds.

Despite concerns over the series’ appeal without two of India’s biggest stars, early ticket sales have proven otherwise. According to a report by Revsportz, nearly all match tickets are close to being sold out.

Another noted the significance of fan turnout despite high ticket prices, adding, “Tickets aren’t cheap, and yet people want to watch the Indians play.”

A New Era for Team India Under Shubman Gill

The Indian team has already arrived in London after flying out from Mumbai via Dubai. They have started training in preparation for the high-profile series. Their sessions are now being overseen by Adrian le Roux, the new strength and conditioning coach, who takes over from Soham Desai. Le Roux brings fresh energy to the squad following Desai’s departure after a successful stint that included two ICC finals in the past year.

On June 8, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a video showing players adapting to the English climate and engaging in intensive practice drills.

As part of their preparations, India will also play a warm-up game against India A on June 13 in Beckenham. The fixture is expected to serve as a crucial test before the first official match of the series.

With the next generation stepping up and fan enthusiasm remaining high, the series promises to deliver compelling cricket—even in the absence of two modern legends.
