MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — With just under 100 days until the season opener at Milan Puskar Stadium, West Virginia University fans are beginning to make plans to watch the Mountaineers take the field under new head coach Rich Rodriguez.
The 2025 football season kicks off on August 30 against Robert Morris. As anticipation builds, season tickets are now available, and ESPN has listed the lowest ticket prices for each home game through Vivid Seats.
West Virginia will host six home games this season. While a few games come with a higher price tag, most remain affordable. Even the away games are reasonably priced, with the most expensive being the September 20 matchup at Kansas, starting at $186.
To help fans budget and prepare, here’s a breakdown of the lowest ticket prices for each WVU home game, ranked from least to most expensive:
Robert Morris – $55
The home opener against Robert Morris is the least expensive ticket of the season. Priced at $55, it offers fans an affordable opportunity to see Rodriguez’s second stint begin.
Robert Morris, a member of the FCS, went 7-5 last year. Although the Colonials are competitive at their level, they’re not expected to seriously challenge WVU. The matchup is considered a tune-up game before the Mountaineers face tougher conference opponents. Due to the anticipated imbalance, the game is not currently listed among sportsbooks’ Week 1 betting lines.
Texas Tech – $70
Surprisingly, the final home game of the season is one of the most affordable Big 12 matchups. Tickets for the November showdown with Texas Tech start at just $70.
Despite being a sleeper pick for the 2025 season, the Red Raiders are the cheapest Big 12 home opponent. Texas Tech has bolstered its roster with 21 transfers, earning the second-highest transfer portal ranking from 247Sports. ESPN ranked them No. 16 in its Way-Too-Early Top 25, making this game a potential clash between ranked teams.
Utah – $82
West Virginia hosts Utah on September 27 in its first Big 12 home game of the season. Tickets start at $82.
Utah struggled in 2024 and enters 2025 without major improvements. Both teams are looking to rise above the middle of the conference standings, setting the stage for a competitive and winnable matchup. The early fall weather could also make this a more desirable game-day experience.
TCU – $98
TCU travels to Morgantown in midseason, with tickets starting at $98. Despite a disappointing season in 2024, the Horned Frogs remain a solid opponent.
Head coach Sonny Dykes has kept TCU competitive in recent years, including a trip to the national title game. The Mountaineers have dominated the recent series, winning six of the last eight matchups. This game could be another key conference victory opportunity for WVU.
Colorado – $124
A visit from Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders pushes the ticket price to $124, making it the second-most expensive home game.
With Sanders at the helm, Colorado has become one of the most talked-about programs in college football. The Buffaloes were in contention for the Big 12 Championship last year and continue to draw national interest. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2009, and the first since Colorado joined the Big 12.
Pitt – $211
The Backyard Brawl returns to Morgantown in 2025, and at $211, it is the most expensive game on the Mountaineers’ schedule.
This non-conference rivalry matchup will be the final tune-up before WVU begins its Big 12 slate. The historic series was renewed in 2022 after a decade-long pause. Two of the past three meetings were decided by one score, fueling continued excitement. This year’s game also marks Rich Rodriguez’s first Backyard Brawl since returning to West Virginia, adding even more significance.
With ticket prices now available, Mountaineer fans can begin planning their game-day experiences. Whether watching an old rivalry or a new conference clash, the 2025 season promises excitement at Milan Puskar Stadium.
