BRUSSELS — More than 18,000 tickets were sold for this year’s 10-day Nuits Botaniques music festival, according to a statement released by organizers on Monday.
The event ran from May 15 to May 25 across venues in the Belgian capital. While attendance was lower than last year’s 27,000, organizers highlighted a key change in this year’s format that may have influenced the numbers.
For the 2024 edition, the festival adopted a new pricing model. Instead of single-event tickets, they introduced a slightly more expensive pass that granted access to all stages during the event.
“Changing a formula—especially one that’s been in place for over 30 years—is never easy,” the statement read. “But the gamble appears to have paid off. Both audiences and artists responded positively.”
The festival’s opening weekend drew strong interest, with crowds turning out for returning performers such as Osees and The Jesus Lizard. Michelle Gurevich’s long-awaited show was a highlight, and the debut of the metal-themed Obsidian Dust edition added variety to the lineup.
Headline performances by Azealia Banks and Alabaster DePlume stood out during the week, while a number of rising artists also made their mark. These included Theodora, Yoa, Miki, Jacob Alon, Lella Fadda, Mark William Lewis, Ellis D, SLAG, Ralphie Choo, Adés The Planet, and Green Milk From The Planet Orange.
The final weekend closed with well-received sets from Greentea Peng and the cult favorite Stereolab, rounding off another dynamic edition of the long-running festival.
