Peterborough, ON — Tickets are now available for the 2024 Peterborough Arts Awards reception, taking place on Wednesday, June 12, at the Canadian Canoe Museum. The event will celebrate outstanding achievements in the local arts community, with six winners and 12 runners-up set to be recognized across six award categories.
The Electric City Culture Council (EC3), a non-profit organization supporting the arts in Peterborough and the surrounding region, will present a total of $15,000 in cash awards. Each winner will receive $2,000, while each runner-up will be awarded $250 — a first in the history of the awards.
The return of the Peterborough Arts Awards marks the end of a five-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. EC3 reopened nominations last November, accepting submissions until January.
“The arts community in Peterborough is a jewel within our beautiful natural and urban setting,” said EC3 Executive Director Su Ditta in a media release. “This celebration highlights the talents and dedication of some of our finest artists and arts supporters. It’s an opportunity to strengthen our vibrant cultural identity.”
The awards are fully funded by private sponsors, local businesses, and corporate donors. The program was created to recognize professional artists, arts organizations, and arts advocates who contribute to the cultural life of both the city and county of Peterborough.
