Pittsburgh Museum to Offer Free Admission for Youth Starting September

by Celina

PITTSBURGH, PA — Starting September 1, the Senator John Heinz History Center will offer free admission to all visitors aged 17 and under. The museum will also cover entry costs for all school groups as part of its new “Free for Kids” initiative.

This announcement came Tuesday after the museum received an $11.5 million donation from Pittsburgh philanthropists Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin. The gift is described as “transformative” and will help make the museum more accessible to young people and schools.

“Learning and understanding our history has never been more critical,” said Carole Kamin. “Dan and I hope this gift removes barriers for families and schools so they can explore our region’s rich heritage and feel inspired to make a difference.”

Andy Masich, president and CEO of the History Center, called the donation “the most significant individual contribution” the museum has ever received. He said it marks a “watershed moment” for the organization and firmly establishes the Kamins as key philanthropic leaders in Pittsburgh and beyond.
