Despite a strong fan base, Beyoncé is reportedly giving away free tickets to her London concerts due to disappointing ticket sales. The US superstar, 43, began the UK leg of her Cowboy Carter tour at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 5. This marks her first UK performances since the 2023 Renaissance World Tour, but unlike before, none of the six scheduled London shows have sold out.
Tickets initially started at around £100, with VIP options costing up to £950. While thousands of fans purchased tickets, the stadium’s 60,000-seat capacity still has hundreds of empty seats across 75 sections for the remaining four concerts.
Reports say unsold tickets have been distributed to local charities to help fill the stadium and support low-income families. Food banks in London have been offering these tickets to those in need, according to The Sun.
Some fans have expressed frustration over the fluctuating ticket prices. Early on, tickets were sold for as much as £620 during presales but later dropped to about £141.60. A Ticketmaster spokesperson explained that ticket prices are often adjusted between three to six months before events as organizers reassess demand.
Adding to fan annoyance, just days before the tour began, some ticket holders were notified by Ticketmaster that their seats were changed due to alterations in the stage setup. These changes meant some original seats would have obstructed views. Affected fans were reassigned seats in comparable locations, and their original tickets were invalidated.
This is not the first time Beyoncé has faced such challenges. In 2018, tickets for her joint tour with Jay-Z were reportedly given away in a Glasgow car park after struggling to sell out. Fans shared the news on social media, encouraging others to pick up free tickets due to empty seats. Some attendees also received free VIP upgrades.
Despite the ticket issues, critical reviews of Beyoncé’s performances have been overwhelmingly positive. Metro praised her portrayal of the American South as “inclusive, textured, full of contradiction and pride,” highlighting her powerful stage presence and generosity.
The Cowboy Carter tour began in Inglewood, California, in April and is scheduled to conclude on July 26 in Paradise, Nevada.
