LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers, together with three-time World Series champion Mookie Betts, will host a celebrity softball game on Thursday afternoon, June 19. The event will take place at Dodger Stadium before Black Heritage Night.
The game, held in honor of Juneteenth, will showcase a variety of celebrities from sports and entertainment. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to catch the softball game, which starts at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the Dodgers’ 7:10 p.m. game against the San Diego Padres are still available at Dodgers/tickets.
Two teams of celebrities will compete, coached by Mookie Betts and former NBA star Matt Barnes. Both coaches will also provide live in-game commentary. The players will wear special Juneteenth-themed cream and black jerseys, featuring a celebrity softball patch designed by Betts on the sleeve.
The game will include a star-studded lineup of players, umpires, and spectators. Notable musicians such as Nelly, Lil’ Wayne, Dom Kennedy, Lizzo, Big Boi, Victoria Monét, AzChike, and music executive Karen Civil will be part of the event. Athletes from various professional and amateur leagues, including MLB, NBA, NFL, and the ATP Tour, will also participate. Among them are Terrell Owens, James Loney, Jordan Love, and Mo’ne Davis. The teams will also feature actors and comedians such as Anthony Anderson, Rel Howery, and Karrueche Tran.
“I’m super excited to host the first celebrity softball game on Black Heritage Night,” Betts said. “It’s going to be a great time with good vibes. I hope this becomes a tradition for years to come. Thanks to everyone playing and helping to make this event happen.”
In addition to the game, the Harmony Project will perform near the outfield warning track before and after the softball game. This Los Angeles-based organization focuses on music education for low-income families and underserved communities. During the game, DJ Severe will provide walk-up music for the players and entertainment between innings.
