MANSFIELD, Mass. — The Adelphi University men’s tennis team has officially qualified for the NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Championship, following their second consecutive Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference title on Sunday.
The Panthers, now back-to-back NE10 champions, were named as the No. 4 seed in the East Region during Monday night’s NCAA Selection Show, streamed on NCAA.com. They will face No. 5 seed District of Columbia in the opening round of regional play on Friday, May 9.
The winner of that match will move on to challenge the region’s top seed, Queens College (NY), on Saturday, May 10.
Adelphi enters the NCAA tournament riding a five-match win streak, capped by a 4-2 victory over Franklin Pierce in the NE10 Championship. Under the leadership of head coach Rebecca Fakas, the team has compiled a strong 16-5 overall record and a 9-1 mark in conference play.
Following the regional rounds, 16 teams will advance to the national championship site at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The final tournament will begin on May 20 and conclude with the championship match on May 24.
