Norfolk State football ticket prices are set to surge as Michael Vick prepares for his first season as head coach. The university announced its 2024 football schedule in April, featuring five home games. Alongside the schedule, season tickets were priced at $200—a sharp 82% increase from last year’s $110.
This steep rise is largely driven by the excitement surrounding Vick’s arrival and his role as an HBCU head coach. The move also fits Norfolk State’s broader plan to increase revenue and remain competitive across all its sports programs.
In addition, Norfolk State is participating in the House v. NCAA Settlement, a new revenue-sharing agreement aimed at supporting student-athletes. Under this settlement, a portion of every ticket sale will go directly to Spartan athletes.
Dr. Melody Webb, Norfolk State’s Director of Athletics, emphasized the significance of the decision. “Joining the NCAA’s revenue-sharing plan highlights our strong commitment to our student-athletes,” Webb said. “This step supports the growth of our athletics department as we enter a new era in college sports. We aim not only to remain competitive but to reach championship success.”
The settlement compensates athletes who missed out on name, image, and likeness (NIL) benefits before NCAA policy changes in 2021. It also allows football teams to exceed the previous limit of 63 equivalency scholarships if their budgets permit.
With Vick’s debut approaching, all eyes will be on how Norfolk State’s football team adapts and competes in this evolving landscape.
