Batavia Downs is gearing up for its summer outdoor concert series, with final preparations underway on the stage and seating. The series launches this Friday, June 20, the official start of summer, featuring Queensryche on the “Rockin’ the Downs” Concert Stage.
Byron Brown, President and CEO of Batavia Downs, expressed excitement about the season ahead. “We are thrilled to kick off the outdoor summer concerts!
This year’s lineup includes legendary acts like The Commodores, Kansas, and Rochester’s own Lou Gramm. We’re starting strong with Queensryche, who have sold over 20 million albums worldwide.”
Ticket sales for the eight scheduled concerts have already more than doubled compared to last year. Ryan Hasenauer, Vice President of Business Development, said, “This is the best lineup we’ve ever had. VIP and premium tickets are selling fast. Some shows have only general admission tickets left.”
As in previous years, doors will open at 4 p.m., with two opening bands performing from about 5:30 p.m. The main act will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. every Friday.
Guests will need to purchase drink tickets, redeemable at outdoor beverage stands. Food trucks offering various cuisines will be available, and several sponsors will provide sampling before the main performance. The celebration will continue after the concerts inside 34 Rush, featuring DJ Jickster from “97 Rock.”
