SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Dead & Company are heading back to their roots with a three-night concert series at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, marking the band’s 60th anniversary. The shows will take place August 1–3 at the Polo Field, and each night promises a distinct set list and a different special guest.
According to an official press release, fans can expect “an incredible series of performances” as founding member Bob Weir, guitarist John Mayer, and the rest of the band deliver unique sets across all three evenings.
The opening acts will also change nightly. Bluegrass artist Billy Strings will kick off the weekend on Friday, August 1. On Saturday, August 2, singer-songwriter Sturgill Simpson—performing under his new stage name, Johnny Blue Skies—will take the stage. The finale on Sunday, August 3, will feature the Trey Anastasio Band, led by the Phish frontman.
These shows follow Dead & Company’s second residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, a run that came after their supposed 2023 farewell tour. During their recent Vegas performance, the band played 18 songs, mixing classics like “Casey Jones,” “Scarlet Begonias,” and “Fire on the Mountain” with Bob Dylan covers and a version of Jimmy Cliff’s reggae hit “The Harder They Come.”
Alongside Weir and Mayer, the current lineup features Mickey Hart on drums, Oteil Burbridge on bass, Jeff Chimenti on keyboards, and Jay Lane on drums.
Tickets for the Golden Gate Park shows officially go on sale Friday, May 30. Fans can also secure seats now through platforms like Vivid Seats, a secondary marketplace where ticket prices may vary based on demand. The service offers a 100% buyer guarantee, ensuring all purchases are secure and tickets will be delivered before the event.
For those eager to experience this historic celebration of one of rock’s most enduring bands, early ticket purchase is recommended.
