Weeks ahead of the game, it was clear that the fixture would be special. For many supporters, it was an emotional milestone. But for one family from Speyer, it was also the day they saw their beloved team live for the very first time.
Liman, his wife Margareta, and their 12-year-old son Leon travelled to Sinsheim for the match. Despite living just 40 kilometers away, they took extraordinary steps to secure their place in the stands: the family bought Hoffenheim season tickets solely to attend this one Bayern game at the PreZero Arena.
“I’m 52, and this is the first time I’ve seen Bayern live in the stadium,” said Liman, who normally follows the team on TV. A former supporter of Karlsruher SC, he became a Bayern fan in the 1990s after his football idol, Oliver Kahn, transferred to the club. From that moment, his loyalty shifted, and he has supported Bayern passionately ever since.
For young Leon, the day was filled with excitement. A huge fan of Jamal Musiala, Leon wore his red-and-white colours proudly. His collection of Bayern merchandise has grown steadily over the years, most recently with a signed jersey celebrating the club’s 125th anniversary. “I’m really excited,” he said before kick-off, smiling with anticipation.
The match did not disappoint. Bayern delivered a commanding 4-0 victory, sealing their title-winning campaign in style. Müller bid farewell to fans with a win, and the family from Speyer experienced the joy of supporting their team in person for the first time.
