The Shake & Stir Vintage Music Festival will charge for entry for the first time in 2025. Organizers say the change is necessary due to rising costs that are affecting events nationwide.
The festival, held in Southbourne’s Fisherman’s Walk on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29, has been free for the past 11 years. Starting next year, tickets will cost £7.50 per day or £10 for the entire weekend. Children under 12 can still attend for free.
Stir Events CIC, the festival’s organizers, described this as a critical “use it or lose it” moment for the community event.
Councillor Andy Martin, portfolio holder for customer services, communications, and culture at BCP Council, said, “Shake & Stir is one of the largest community festivals in our area. We are proud to support this event, which celebrates local culture and creativity. It also helps local businesses like accommodation providers, bars, restaurants, and shops to thrive.”
He encouraged residents to support the festival by buying tickets and inviting friends, ensuring the festival continues for years to come.
The 2025 festival will also include a new feature: Saturday’s events will run later, until 9 p.m. The night will close with a performance by international rock ’n’ roll band The Explosion Rockets, who will travel from the Netherlands for the show.
