STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State University is gearing up for the 78th season of its long-running Lyceum Series, offering a fresh lineup of music, dance, and theater performances, including a headline appearance by Grammy-winning blues artist Christone “Kingfish” Ingram this December.
Season ticket renewals began Monday, June 9, while new season and mini-series ticket sales for the six-show lineup will open on July 1. Individual ticket sales will begin August 20.
The season kicks off September 26 with a stage adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, presented by Theatre MSU at McComas Theatre.
The following performances will take place at 7 p.m. in Bettersworth Auditorium at Lee Hall:
October 17 – Disco Strangers: An Eagles Tribute
Founded by MSU staff member Dale Robertson, this band reinterprets classic Eagles hits using a unique mix of mandolin, steel guitar, and acoustic instrumentation.
December 3 – Christone “Kingfish” Ingram
In a long-awaited campus debut co-sponsored by Music Maker Productions, Clarksdale native Kingfish brings his acclaimed blues sound to MSU following two previously postponed shows due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Known internationally, Ingram has performed across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
February 11 – Ailey II
This renowned dance company, under the direction of Francesca Harper, showcases young American dance talent while honoring the legacy of Alvin Ailey with fresh, high-energy performances.
February 26 – Sonic Escape
The dynamic flute and violin duo of Shawn Wyckoff and Maria Kaneko Millar deliver new takes on classical music’s greatest hits. The pair has captivated audiences at major venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Lincoln Center.
March 18 – Canadian Brass
Boasting over 135 albums and 24 Grammy and Juno nominations, Canadian Brass brings a blend of classical, jazz, and contemporary music to the stage. Their repertoire includes arrangements of works by Joni Mitchell and Drake.
Ticket Information:
Season tickets: $150 general public; $135 for MSU employees and seniors.
Mini-series tickets: $75 general public; $65 for MSU employees and seniors.
Individual tickets: $30 general public; $25 for MSU employees and seniors; $10 for children.
MSU students: Free individual tickets, available for pickup at the Center for Student Activities (Colvard Student Union, 3rd floor) or reserved online at least one week before each show.
The Lyceum Series is MSU’s oldest performing arts program and plays a vital role in the university’s mission to promote the arts on campus and in the community.
